Both masks we're bought from Jeremy at Coastal Carvings in Coombs. We love both pieces and particularly enjoy hearing the stories and traditions behind your work. Perhaps we'll have an opportunity to meet sometime and share a conversation over a cup of coffee.

Hello,

We have recently become the proud owners of two of your pieces: “The Firekeeper” (which my wife Susan gave me for Christmas) and “The North Wind” (which we just bought today). In August, 1969 i was working as a scaler for Rayonier in Holberg. At that time I purchased a totem pole carved by "Charlie Ike" which stands about 22" tall. I still keep it on my mantle at home and have always been intrigued with both its look and the skills that went into making it. Given your age I assume that it would not be you that had carved it. Was there someone that you might know that would have signed the back of the totem pole as "Charlie Ike"?

I called today from NYC and was interested in some suggestions for a mask to fit my budget of about $1000 to 2000 USA. I am interested in something authentic that has some color and more importantly energy. I would also want to know what the mask symbolizes. I plan to place it in an area that I spend lot of time to relax but also would use it as an inspiration to engage in everyday life events with vigor. Is something close to 12"X18"possible?Thank you and I know you said Sharon might reply.Ron Lukas

John<br

Darrell has over 30years experience of carving, his sophisticated Haida style can be seen in his wood and argillite carvings. A member of the Haida Nation, his interest in art began at a young age. Darrell is most noted for his traditional yellow cedar rattles, totem poles and talking sticks. He has also produced a series of limited edition prints.
The beautiful rattle you possess was made in 2010.
